President & CCO
Founding Partner of the Headwater Investments team.
Scott was first an academic. He earned a Ph.D. from UC Davis and eventually moved to McMinnville to become a Professor of Finance at Linfield College. Scott focused his efforts on teaching and mentoring students. In fact, three of our employees, Tommy, Ginger, and CB, all had Scott as a professor. Outside of the classroom, Scott focused his research on investment management for endowments and foundations. He traveled around the country and the world speaking at conferences and sharing his knowledge. Scott also spent a short time as Linfield College's Interim Vice-President for Finance and Administration, managing their endowment. He has been asked to consult with some of the largest nonprofit organizations in Oregon.
Scott adapted his ideas surrounding endowments and foundations into a new passion, helping people save for and live well in retirement. Through his experience helping hundreds of clients, he has a vast knowledge base on which we draw.
As Headwater Investments grew, Scott decided to leave his teaching position at the college but still gives back by sitting on their board of trustees. Scott’s expertise is sought out in many places as he acts a Director at First Federal Savings and Loan, is an active Rotarian, and is asked to advise many non-profit boards.
Scott rarely drives into work, so you might see him zooming around town on his bike or walking. Scott loves traveling with his wife Susan, enjoying their empty-nest-house, and cherishing time spent with their adult sons, especially when floating down a river. They also enjoy loading up their Airstream to explore the Northwest.
Managing Partner & Portfolio Manager
Member of the Headwater Investment Team since November 2011.
Tommy is always looking for ways to help our clients and better our business. His primary responsibilities are to have eyes on accounts as the portfolio manager. He executes trades, leads our investment strategy, and collaborates on developing firm strategy. He uses skills learned at Linfield as a double major in Economics and Finance and a student of Scott.
He is our most ‘lettered’ employee earning his Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation, an MBA from University of Oregon Executive program, a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor℠ (CRPC®), and a Chartered Retirement Planning Specialist℠ (CRPS®) designation from the College of Financial Planning. He uses all of this knowledge to help our clients navigate the tricky decisions surrounding retirement and estate planning.
Outside of the office, Tommy uses his financial expertise to impact his local community. He acts as Treasurer of the McMinnville Noon Rotary Club and serves on the City of Sherwood Budget Committee. He has completed the Leadership Programs for both the Newberg and McMinnville Area Chambers of Commerce. Tommy has previously served as Treasurer for the Yamhill County Cultural Coalition and served as a Director of Delta Psi Delta at Linfield College. He also enjoys working with small businesses and start-ups as an advisor and mentor.
Tommy loves to be at home with his family. Young sons, Charlie and Henry, keep Tommy and his wife Rose plenty busy. They enjoy taking family walks, biking together, and trying out new recipes in the kitchen. When not with his family or at his trading station, you can probably find Tommy on the back nine of a local golf course.
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and federally registered CFP (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
Managing Partner & Lead Adviser
Member of the Headwater Investment Team since November 2013.
In the multifaceted role of Managing Partner and Lead Advisor, Kevin manages new and current client relationships, forms firm strategy, and breaks down the team’s research into understandable and enlightening commentary. He shares this knowledge as a public speaker on financial and economic topics.
Kevin earned his BA with a double major in Economics and International Political Economy from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. While completing Willamette University’s MBA for Professionals, he wrote a capstone on how to better serve non-profits as an advisor.
Kevin has a passion for working with non-profit organizations. He is a board member for the McMinnville Noon Rotary Club and Community Home Builders. Kevin serves on both the Yamhill County Local Investment Advisory Committee and the MacPAC, the McMinnville Programming Advisory Committee, with the city of McMinnville Parks and Recreation and Library. He also is a member of the McMinnville School District Citizen Oversight Committee.
When he isn’t at his desk or out in the community, you can usually find Kevin on one of the beautiful disc golf courses in Oregon, or on the sideline watching his wife play ultimate. In the summer, he enjoys floating rivers and being with his wife and friends in the outdoors, usually with their Chocolate Labrador, Rhett, in tow.

Recently, CB and her husband, Jeff, have become empty-nesters. Their youngest is attending the University of Wyoming in Laramie and their oldest is attending the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. With their new "extra" time, CB & Jeff like to make puzzles, work in their yard, and plan for future travel.
Accounting & Compliance Specialist
Member of the Headwater Investment Team since July 2009.
After earning her BS in Accounting from Linfield College, Ginger joined the Oregon Secretary of State Audits Division in Salem, Oregon. As a governmental auditor, Ginger reviewed financial operations, computer systems, and agency programs for effective internal controls and compliance with laws, regulations, and guiding principles.
Ginger is all about her family. She left the State to be available as a mom and brought her excellent skills to McMinnville and Headwater Investments. She coordinates compliance measures, handles the bookkeeping, and executes our internal auditing processes. She is an integral part of the team, and always has a smile when helping our clients.
Ginger also embraces our culture of giving back to our community. Ginger applies her skills as a church treasurer, leading youth ministry at church, and volunteering at the Veritas School where her sons attend. Previously, she has served as the Treasurer for McMinnville Young Life and a volunteer leader in both Newberg and McMinnville area Women’s Bible Study Groups.
As you can probably guess when not at work or volunteering, you can find Ginger at home with her three sons and husband. They have a generous spirit and open their home to family, friends, and young people in need of mentoring. In her quiet moments, Ginger enjoys scrapbooking, sewing, and reading.

Being active in the McMinnville community is a priority for Janet, and she currently serves as President of both the McMinnville Sunrise Rotary and the McMinnville Library Foundation. She completed Leadership Mac through the McMinnville Chamber of Commerce and the Ford Institute Leadership Program for Yamhill County. Janet recently joined the board of Juliette's House, a child abuse intervention center.

Matt graduated with a B.A. in History from Oregon State University. After 13 years working through the ranks of management at Starbucks, he made the jump to college admission. For ten years, Matt worked with prospective students and their families, honing his listening skills and bringing a higher level of personalized attention to ease the minds of those going through a major life transition. Joining the Headwater Investments Client Relationship team is a perfect fit for his skills. Matt will assist with client onboarding as well as process administrative account updates.
As a McMinnville native, Matt not only ran as a student, he returned to coach Cross Country and Track at McMinnville High School. He was also a coach for the Mac Track Club, mentoring athletes ages 8-18. Matt looks forward to being more active in Linfield Athletics, serving in the running community as a coach again, and finding other ways to give back to the McMinnville community.
Outside of work, Matt and his family of seven, including two foster children, like to hit the road in Mac, their Fleetwood motor home. They venture out to find new camping spots, especially ones close to the beach. They also enjoy spending time in their ever-evolving backyard. In fact, Matt is always on the hunt for new audiobooks to engage his mind while working on home projects.
